Full Time
Experienced
Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator

Advanced Professional Security (APS) is seeking a dependable, technology-oriented (SOC) Operator to join our operations team.
The SOC Operator serves as a central point of communication and coordination for APS security operations. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, excellent computer skills, and the ability to manage multiple situations simultaneously in a fast-paced security environment.

  • Communicating professionally with security personnel using two-way radios, telephone, text, and email.

  • Monitoring scheduled shifts and identifying officers who are late, absent, off post, or otherwise require follow-up.
  • Receiving employee call-offs and immediately beginning the process of locating qualified replacement personnel.
  • Coordinating with supervisors and management to arrange shift coverage after call-outs or staffing shortages.
  • Preparing accurate security, dispatch, incident, and operational reports.
  • Reviewing and monitoring incident reports to ensure required information is complete and appropriate follow-up occurs.
  • Following up on open incidents, client concerns, employee issues, staffing problems, and other operational matters until they are resolved or properly transferred to management.

  • Corresponding professionally with employees, supervisors, clients, and management through email.
  • Using AI tools and other technology to improve efficiency, organize information, draft communications, summarize operational information, and assist with report preparation.
  • Escalating emergencies, serious incidents, client complaints, and other significant issues according to APS procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic records and ensuring important information is communicated to the appropriate department or manager.
Documentation Standard
If it is not documented, it did not happen.
SOC Operators are expected to accurately document significant operational activity. Documentation must be timely, factual, professional, and detailed enough that another SOC Operator or manager can understand what occurred, what actions were taken, who was contacted, and what follow-up is still required.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates should have:
  • Previous experience in a Security Operations Center, dispatch center, security office, call center, monitoring center, or similar environment.
  • Experience answering and managing multiple telephone calls professionally.
  • Experience communicating over two-way radios.

  • Ability to follow established procedures and chain-of-command requirements.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining constant communication with the operations team.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
